Nothing's Working

I realize that it's been a good 3 or 4 months since I've last posted and I apologize.

To update: Over the holiday break, my symptoms became much worse. I wasn't keeping anything down and my body was not responding to the medicine.

In January I went back to my gastrointerologist and he decided to put me on Procardia, which is actually a blood pressure pill. My doctor told me that it should relax my esophagus and that I should take it 30 minutes prior to each meal. Well, it's nearly March and I think it's time to go back for another visit. Procardia did not work for me. Probably because it is for people with high blood pressure. Go figure! You know what works for me? Wine. Not only does it taste good, but it actually loosens up the muscle. Achalasia is going to turn me into a wine-o.

I am so terribly discusted with my esophagus. I hate eating. I know that I need to in order to nourish my body and in order to live, but it's so painful. The first 3 bites are the only part of the eating process that is pleasant for me.

The main thing I'm worried about is when I try to have children. How am I going to be able to nourish a child inside of me if I can't nourish my own body? I guess I'll be sure to take plenty of vitamins and lots of protein shakes.

My new total of weight loss since March of 2004: 120 lbs

Over the holiday break, I probably lost 20 lbs.
